Rural Payments Wales (RPW) have carried out preliminary checks on the SAF 2022 applications and have now notified those applicants where they’ve identified fields where there are differences between your declaration and the information held on their mapping system.

Please note, this is an opportunity to amend or correct these details without penalty but only if you do so by the 20 June 2022.

Have you received a preliminary check letter?

If a letter has been sent to your account, you should have received a notification (by text and/or email) this week and if so, the preliminary check letter can be found on your RPW Online account. You would be well advised to check your account in any case.

What to do if you've received the letter

If you have received a preliminary check letter, you should action as follows:

  • If you have already submitted a Manage My Land submission and/or SAF map confirming the correct crop information for the field(s) listed in the letter, you do not need to reply to RPW.
  • Otherwise, you should review the fields listed within the letter on the pro forma (Annex P1) and confirm whether you would like to amend your crop declaration for these fields.
  • You can amend your crop declaration for these fields without penalty only if you notify Rural Payments Wales of your amendment no later than 20 June 2022.
  • The field(s) listed on the pro forma have been identified by the following check(s):
    • Where the total area for the crops that have been declared in the field is greater than the size of the field.
    • Where the area you have declared for permanent features in the field is less than the area for these permanent features in our mapping system.
  • What must you do? If you wish to amend your declaration on the SAF 2022, for any of the fields listed on the pro forma:
    • Enter your new declaration in the 'Amended Crops & Area' column for the relevant fields.
    • Include crop / land use codes and areas for all the crops and permanent features in the field.
    • Check that the total area for the crops you declare matches the field size.
  • Complete, sign and return the pro forma to Rural Payments Wales, PO Box 251, Caernarfon, LL55 9DA. Alternatively you can confirm these details via a message on your RPW Online account.
  • Ensure the pro forma or message is received by Rural Payments Wales no later than 20 June 2022. Pro forma or messages that are received after 20 June 2022 will not be accepted by RPW.

If you have any queries regarding the preliminary check letter, you should contact the RPW Customer Contact Centre on 0300 062 5004 or alternatively, use the messaging function on your RPW Online account.
