Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, patients staying on the ward at the hospital, which is an inpatient ward providing specialist rehabilitation services, aren’t able to share magazines, meaning reading material is thin on the ground. The medical staff got in touch with the community outreach programme run by Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations (PAVO), who reached out to NFU Cymru.
Excellent reading
NFU Cymru Brecon & Radnor Vice County Chairman, Rob Powell, who delivered the magazines to the hospital along with NFU Cymru Brecon & Radnor County Adviser Stella Owen, said: “It was great to meet with Dr Pinhorn at Brecon Hospital and hand over copies of our Farming Wales member magazines, as well as other trade publications. Knowing there are a number of patients from agricultural backgrounds on the ward, these magazines should provide some excellent reading to pass the time during their hospital stays. It is great to be able to help provide something to help occupy those going through difficult times. Happy reading.”
Dr Pinhorn, the Consultant on the Epynt Ward said: “Boredom can be a great challenge to well-being when in hospital, especially with these difficult times and restricted visiting in hospitals due to the pandemic. Many of our patients have links to the farming community and these magazines will be a way of keeping in touch with their interests and help with stimulating conversation. Thank you so much for the help of NFU Cymru.”
