As part of the Stop the Family Farm Tax campaign, the NFU and NFU Cymru will bring to life the effect of the government’s proposed inheritance tax changes on all farming generations with a display of tractors and pre-loved farm toys outside the annual NFU Conference in London on 25 February.

The exhibit at the QEII Centre is expected to show a range of new and old farm machinery alongside the donated farm toys by NFU members and Stop the Family Farm Tax campaign supporters.

A multi-generational farming family will hand over a selection of pre-loved farming toys to the Treasury with a message to Chancellor Rachel Reeves – a symbolic gesture to show the toys come from the children of Britain’s farming families who are being denied a future in the industry.

The move comes as the NFU ramps up the pressure on the government to rethink its plans for changes to APR and BPR (Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief) ahead of its Spring Statement in March.

Unmissable visual statement

NFU Cymru President Aled Jones said: "We’re asking farmers across Wales to send us their pre-loved farm toys so we can showcase to UK Treasury the impact that this ill-considered policy will have on generations of family farms.

“Please get your toy tractors to your local NFU Cymru/NFU Mutual office by Wednesday 19 February. Together we can make this an unmissable visual statement of the industry’s opposition to the UK Government’s family farm tax.”
