For more than 100 years, Michelin has been dedicated to supporting the farming community. Its approach to agricultural tyre development is based on decades of research and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by farmers and contractors. Recognising that one-size-fits-all solutions don’t work in agriculture, Michelin creates tyres tailored to specific conditions, crops, and farming operations, with a focus on maximising performance and longevity.
Whether it’s handling the weight of heavy machinery, minimising soil compaction, or enhancing fuel efficiency, Michelin designs tyres to meet a wide array of demands. This commitment has driven the development of numerous cutting-edge agricultural technologies over the years.
In 2024, Michelin celebrated the 20th anniversary of its pioneering Ultraflex Technology. These advanced tyres are engineered to deliver superior performance and durability, offering greater flexibility, improved traction, and reduced soil compaction – all of which lead to lasting benefits for farmers.
Michelin Ultraflex Technology stands out thanks to its innovative construction. A unique blend of materials and design principles allows the tyres to flex with ease while maintaining strength, even under heavy loads. Running at much lower pressures without compromising durability, these tyres minimise soil impact, reducing compaction and enhancing crop yields over time. Research by Harper Adams University has shown that Michelin Ultraflex Technology tyres can increase yields by up to 4% compared to standard tyres.
Michelin’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond soil protection too. The company is constantly refining the materials used in its tyres to lessen environmental impact. From renewable materials to energy-efficient manufacturing processes, Michelin prioritises eco-friendly practices in every stage of production.
From the raw materials used in each casing, right through to the finished product, Michelin’s focus is on ensuring that every tyre is designed and built to last.
To help NFU members access these premium products, Michelin is offering cashback on its range of premium agricultural tyres including the Kleber brand for all eligible members.
Michelin has recently launched a new free app called AGROPRESSURE which aims to help users get the most from their Michelin tyres by giving optimal operating pressures given the weight of the tractor (including any additional weights and implements), the type of work they’re undertaking (field/road split and including slopes) and other factors. Find out more about the app.
