NFU Cymru appoints two new Group Secretaries at its Ruthin office

18 Medi 2024

NFU Cymru has recently appointed Siwan Hulme and Hannah Hughes as Group Secretaries in its Ruthin Office, which forms part of the newly merged NFU Cymru / NFU Mutual Dolgellau and Ruthin offices.

The changes, which comes after the retirement of Wyn Roberts who served as a Group Secretary in Ruthin for 17 years, will see a newly formed team take over the helm with Merfyn Roberts, Carys Jones, Mair Jones and Gemma Griffiths joined by Siwan and Hannah to oversee the needs of NFU Cymru members in Meirionnydd and Clwyd.

About Siwan

Siwan, who lives on a dairy farm in Llandyrnog, near Denbigh with her husband and young children, grew up on a beef and sheep farm in Cwm, Dyserth before gaining a degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management from Harper Adams University. Siwan has worked with NFU Mutual for the last nine years, more recently as Agency Manager.

Speaking about her appointment, Siwan said: “As an NFU Cymru Group Secretary I will be a local contact for queries and a person for members to turn to for support and assistance. I am looking forward to getting out and about and building on existing relationships with our members. I hope that my background in farming will put me in a good stead to support NFU Cymru members.”

About Hannah

Hannah has worked away from the area for the last 10 years at NFU Mutual’s headquarters in Stratford-upon-Avon but grew on a sheep farm in Llandegla, in between Ruthin and Wrexham. Now back living and working in the local area Hannah said: “As a Group Secretary my role will be to provide support and guidance to farming members by helping to solve a wide variety of farm business queries, and to champion Welsh farming by representing farmers and related rural businesses.

“I am looking forward to spending time with our members, getting to know their businesses and future plans and understanding what we can do support them on their journey.”

NFU Cymru Director John Mercer said: “I am really pleased to welcome both Siwan and Hannah to the already strong team in Dolgellau and Ruthin. At a vital time for Welsh agriculture, I have no doubt that they will build on the support members in the area already receive and be great assets to the NFU Cymru team.”
